Frequently Asked Questions about Chiropractic Care

We understand you might have questions about chiropractic treatment and how it can benefit you. Here, we address some of the most common queries we receive at Burns Chiropractic. If you don't find the answer you're looking for, please don't hesitate to contact our friendly team directly.

Is Chiropractic Safe?

Chiropractic care is a widely utilised healthcare approach and is considered safe for the majority of people when administered by a qualified and registered professional. Each patient undergoes a thorough assessment to determine the most appropriate course of action. As with any physical treatment, some individuals may experience temporary soreness after a session. Before commencing any treatment, your clinician will always clearly explain the potential benefits, any associated risks, and alternative treatment options available to you.

How Soon Will I Feel Better?

The timeline for improvement can vary from person to person and depends on the nature and duration of your condition. Some patients report feeling better after their very first session, while others, particularly those with longer-standing or more complex problems, may require a few sessions to build momentum and achieve noticeable relief. We regularly review your progress and response to treatment, adjusting your care plan as needed to ensure the best possible outcomes.

What Should I Wear To My Appointment?

We recommend wearing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely. During your assessment and treatment, it may be necessary to expose the area being examined (for example, your upper back and shoulders or hips and legs). However, please be assured that your privacy will always be maintained, and our clinicians will always explain what they are doing beforehand.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No, you do not need a referral from your GP to book an appointment with us. You are welcome to book directly at any of our clinics. Should our assessment indicate the need for medical imaging (such as X-rays or MRI scans), input from your GP, or referral to another specialist, we will discuss this with you thoroughly and assist you in taking the appropriate next steps to ensure you receive comprehensive care.
